Richmond is, without exception or equivocation, the best city you’ll ever live in. Some of y’all got mad about that but the truth is the truth. Let the light of what I just shared with you shine in your soul and soften your hardened heart with its warm rays.

The Richmond metro area has almost anything your heart could ask for: amazing food and drink, affordable housing, outdoor activities, indoor activities, a respectable music scene, diversity, clean drinking water, streetlights, sidewalks, cityscapes, farmland, suburbs, I mean the list goes on and on!

Food & Drink: I gotta start with my favorite thing about the city! If you like to eat, drink, and be merry, HONEY, LOOK NO FURTHA! This is it! All roads lead to RVA. Richmond has fine dining (LEMAIRE), waterfront dining (The Boathouse at Sunday Park & The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing), plain old delicious dining (I have a list of like 1.5 million Richmond restaurants that I highly highly highly highly recommend, but won’t take up a ton of space with that here), fast casual dining, and plain old fast food. It’s all here. Tex Mex, Actual Mex, Asian/Mex fusion, Soul Food, Israeli/African fusion, Mediterranean, Ethiopian. Okay. Now for alcohols. There are more than 30 craft breweries in Richmond Metro. MORE THAN 30. If you like a lil sip while you dip your chip - just about every restaurant, cafe, grocery store can help you out with that.

Affordable Housing: the median sales price for homes is under $300k (about $285,000 at the time of this writing), which is far under the median sales price of Northern Virginia which is hovering about abut $429,000 and Washington, D.C, which is about $675,000. The country is seeing rising home prices, and Richmond is still having homes come to market at an entry-level price point.

Richmond also has several organizations that are committed to having quality housing available for low-to-moderate income families, such as Project HOMES, Better Housing Coalition, Maggie Walker Community Land Trust. There are a lot of folks thinking and taking actionable steps toward making owning a home more equitable. There’s a long road ahead, but things are moving in the right direction!

Activities: There are lots. For our outdoor experience folks, the James River Park System has a lot to offer - there’s urban hiking, white-water rafting (CLASS IV Rapids, people!!!!!), all the stuff that living on a river has to offer. For our indoor experience folks (like myself), there are movie theaters, bowling alleys, actual theatrical thespian theaters (Altria Theater), tons of live music venues, shopping, etc. There’s no shortage of things to do!

There’s something for everyone here. If you want to live in the suburbs, we’ve got plenty of that. If you’ve got a penchant for city-living, we’ve got that too. If you want to farm, you can buy a house with several acres and do that, or you can be an urban farmer (we’ve got plenty of those too). Richmond has most of the benefits of a major city while still hanging to maintain it’s small-city charm.

Move here - you won’t regret it.
